Marilyn Death Fest Aug. 5th, 2017
Generic.Gallery will be opening its' doors August 5th, 2017 with its' Marilyn Death Fest art exhibit celebrating the August 5th, 1962 untimely and unexpected death of Marilyn Monroe!
This unique art exhibit was conceived in 2012 and originally was to be held in the infamous House of Wills funeral parlor left abandoned in Cleveland for decades. Our original event had 15+ bands, 9 burlesque & boylesque performers, and over 40+ artists and vendors attached. Then slowly the Curse of Marilyn overtook our event and problems started mounting within the haunted funeral parlor that was built in the late 1800s. Eventually due to ongoing problems with the City and Utility companies and other obstacles with the venue, we abandoned the funeral parlor for another venue just weeks shy of our event date. We scrambled as we scaled back the event in order to still focus on art, performance, and a midwest premiere of the film Trannysnatchers (from Portland).
More story to be added! But suffice it to say that we put Marilyn Death Fest in moratorium for 5 years. And here we are. Ready to bring that curse back into our realm and celebrate death and its' many splendid colours!
